Augie Diana
Augie Diana holds 3 academic degrees in Sociology and has been an active Applied
Sociologist his entire professional career, including serving as Treasurer (since 2018) and as
Vice President of AACS. Augie’s professional diversity includes federal service (retired
December 2019), state agencies, as an independent consultant and at a small business. In
these roles, Augie served as coordinator of small business research and general technology
portfolios at 2 NIH Institutes, led development of disease prevention and wellness portfolios,
oversaw national evaluations and data/technology initiatives, and designed and implemented
community-based research studies in areas such as physical activity, drug use/abuse, and
media/communications.

Roger Straus
Roger A. Straus, PhD, C.C.S co-founded the Clinical Sociology Association, a parent organization of AACS, and was AACS President for the 2022 term. He has edited two textbooks as well as contributed many seminal publications on sociological practice as well as the sociology of religion and sociological social psychology as well as professional books on Nathan Hurvitz’s symbolic interactionist approach to marriage and family therapy and, most recently, on doing focus groups and depth interviews. After several years maintaining a private clinical sociology practice and teaching at Alfred University, where he developed an applied/clinical teaching program, he spent over 30 years as a qualitative and quantitative marketing researcher, applied sociologist, consultant, and strategist. Now living in the Portland, OR area, he is also an internationally published poet and has two books in print on self-hypnosis, one of which was a best-seller.
