CALL FOR PROPOSALS
Dear AACS Colleagues,
The Call For Proposals for our 2024 Annual Meeting of the Association for Applied and Clinical Sociology is open!
AACS invites paper abstracts, poster overviews, and workshop ideas for consideration in our 2024 Annual Meeting. We welcome submissions from applied, clinical, and publicly engaged sociologists, as well as social and behavioral scientists employing a sociological lens in business, community, government, and academia. The submission deadline is Monday August 5, 2024.
We are currently seeking three types of proposals:
Paper Abstracts include briefly presenting paper abstracts alongside other presenters. Since each paper session will be about an hour, we anticipate up to three presenters per session (15 minutes each) to ensure adequate time for discussion. You may recruit your own group of three or request to be matched with other paper abstract presenters.
Poster Overviews will be like Paper sessions, except they include briefly presenting a Poster instead of a paper. Again, we anticipate up to three presenters per session to ensure adequate time for discussion. You may recruit your own group of three presenters or request that we match you with other Poster presenters. Your poster must be electronic so that it can be shared via a screen or link that can be clicked on and viewed through a digital device. Your poster may also be an info-graphic, sociologically inspired digital art piece, other visually creative design or video, or a “three minute thesis” presentation. The Poster Overviews are an important opportunity for researchers, innovators, and creatives at all career stages to present and discuss their work and sociological perspective with others. Be as creative as you want to be! Finally,
Workshops tend to include teaching a skill, process, or a “how to”. Workshops may be presented by solo or multiple presenters. Share your wisdom with us! Also, please consider workshops that may be of particular interest to our student attendees.

CONFERENCE DETAILS
The 2024 Annual Meeting of the Association for Applied and Clinical Sociology will be held in virtually on Zoom, Friday November 1st, and Saturday November 2nd. Tentatively from 9:40-6pm EST.
Our theme is: “Reinforcing our Democracy: Micro-Macro Practices”
In contrast to tyrannical forms of leadership and decision-making, democratic practices seek to embody a variety of principles including: personal expression and empowerment, transparency, checks on the abuse of power, equity, and inclusion. Applied and clinical sociologists are acutely aware of how such practices produce healthier individuals, institutions, societies, and outcomes. We invite conference presenters to demonstrate how their own work reinforces democratic principles that ultimately lead to a stronger and more resilient democratic society.
